Godzilla Vs Kong: New Empire Review

As a whole, it's mildly entertaining though not as good as 2021's Godzilla Vs. Kong and certainly doesn't measure up to the new standard for the long-running franchise set by Godzilla: Minus One. New Empire offers audiences more of the series monster-driven action without the same amount of care being put into the stories human elements this time around. The plot has both Godzilla and Kong facing a colossal threat that's hidden deep within the planet that not only theaters their very existence but the survival of the human race. To state the obvious, the monsters are the sole reason to watch the film with everything else taking a backseat to the CGI. That's not to say that the performances from the cast aren't good, they're solid work overall. Reprising their roles from Godzilla Vs. Kong is Rebecca Hall as Dr. Llene Andrews, Brian Tyree Henry as conspiracy theoriet Bernie Hayes, and Kaylee Hottle as Llene's adopted daughter Jia with welcomed new additions to the castle including Dan Stevens in an entertaining supporting role as the only Kaiju veterinarian and Llene's ex-boyfriend, Trapper with other noteworthy performances such as Alex Ferns as Mikael, Fala Chen as lwi Queen, and Rachel House as Hampton. Despite these clearly not being the main stars of the movie, this ensemble does their absolute best to make the most of their characters.
